an interesting colour scheme

... if i may say so myself. 

blue notes and mustard mixed in to beiges and woody browns with a touch of gold.

here you can find all the "usual suspects" = my favorite ingredients to a little still life: some wood, some glass and some ceramic, so you get glossy versus matt and transparent versus opaque. add a potted plant or other vegetal, it makes all the difference. for the sake of the colour scheme i have a bit neglected the aspect of mixing shapes cleverly. will do next time.

i'm a big fan of the new owl and am definitely taking one for my own home. a lovely and foolproof match with glassware or ceramics.
 
the one down left is of walnut wood and has a gold top, whereas the owl top right is oak with a blue top.

this morning in my mailbox: a notification of the french post signalling that a parcel is being dispatched for me. indeed: i'm expecting a new collection of jewellery from france for mid march, so i hope it's that :-)

i don't know if you can make this out but these little dots on the cable are actually swallows. and they're gathering to make their way back to us in europe! come on, fellows, we're waiting...

please note that the shop will be closed between christmas and new year. the shop reopens on january 3rd. 

 

birds looking your way

first picture: this little leather wallet with bird print just sold... so cute i had to quickly take a picture.

second and third picture: raw dough is my kind of dope, folks, i would happily live on that if i could! so baking christmas cookies is definitely on the cards in december and it's a fun activity for kids. and frankly, these little aprons are quite irresistible! fear not, there's an adult version too with grown up birds (cf post 5.10.12).

some exceptions/mistakes aside (when i unpack and ask myself: what was i thinking when i ordered this?) i buy only products for the shop that i actually like. but of course there are personal favorites... these two little chaps definitely are in my top ten since several years and i have two of them at home.

if you ask me, this is a 100% lovely christmas gift.

flown away - want to order it?

you know what it feels like when you return to a shop to buy something you have seen and then you're too late, it's gone!

i sometimes get that feeling when a customer buys a piece of which i either only have one or it's the last...

today that just happened when this tray with the bird was sold. only one piece. and now i want it, badly! as a present for my mother (she doesn't read the blog, but you Papa need to keep your mouth shot) and/or for moi-toute-seule-allein.

now you see the dilemma... should i re-order it at once although i have yet enough of the rest of porcelain on stock?

so, sisters and brothers, if you think that this tray might come handy as a christmas present (or any other occasion for that matter) mail me here entrez@leboudoir.ch and if we're enough of us i'll order it asap so we can get delivery well in time.

the porcelain tray has a diameter of 23cm and costs chf 89.- the bird is attached to the tray. the dots and lines are royal blue.

des drôles d'oiseaux

new birds for the shop: today i unpacked a parcel containing aprons (both for grown-ups and kids) and kitchen towels.

i once bought a liberty-fabric apron for the shop, meaning to wear it as they do in some shops (so you could see who's working there) but then had to admit that was quite unnecessary = uncool in my case :-( but this morning i sneakily wore the apron in the shop and had a smile on my face... 

but this toile de jouy apron with the printed hen is completely legitimate if you're a hobby cook and it's a good present when you get invited.

i have 3 prints in the t-towls, they will also look good hanging on a wall (i'll have to try this out soon).

right on time

the right timing is of essence for most things, but alas, i'm not particularly good at it. so i've effectively waited for weeks to post the picture of the cushion cover with handprinted sparrows until the 3 pieces i had were long sold. congrats.  

but now comes to good bit: i might get some more cushion covers. in the future. (they probably are in the process of being printed in zurich right now).

peep!

i have more jewellery news but will sandwich this one in between: a cute set of stickers for the children's room. you decide how to place it. sticks on all smooth surfaces including doors and windows and comes off easily. available in violet or black colour for chf 59.-

screen prints on cushions

no... it's not a good picture and i placed way too many cushions on that poor little (makeshift) sofa. but it's the only photograph i took when sybill brought me her screenprinted cushions in december. the grey and soft pink owl&stars cushion were sold before christmas and the pink (the one sitting in front)just went over the counter today. sybill, put on your apron, get cracking with your screen and colours and bring me new cushions, please!
