just married...

today i cought a glimpse of the royal wedding, the key moment when the prince put on the ring to his princess: it took a bit of a push! so i thought i might make a post about rings today, but what did i get just then: a parcel from france including above t-towl and cushion. very appropriate... so now the wedding season is on and there you are with 2 fresh ideas in case you're after a wedding present. happy week-end everyone.

new favorites

long awaited (ordered on a rainy winter day back in january and now finally in: lovely enamel earrings with a little pearlfringe or single pearl in a contrasting colour. the bronzy tone of the metal complements all skin tones. keep posted for more pictures of other colour combinations.
one of these earrings paired with a t-shirt and you're set for the day! or... a summer dress... a crisp white blouse... or a sensual black silk blouse. hmmmmm.

deep purple, yellow and green

remember the intriguing purple-yellow-green colour mix of the interieur photo i posted on april 1? so when i saw these dark tulips i wanted to recreate that colour scheme and so added some buttercups. dark & dangerous next to light & charming, all rather "little red cap and the big bad wolf" if you see what i mean.

all kind of containers

it's lovely to bring some of nature's abundance into your home, especially if you don't have garden. i rarely buy flowers but in spring i like to raid my mother's garden or to pick wild flowers. as you can tell from the vast choice in the shop i have a weakness for vases and - interestingly combined in shape, colour, material (different texture, transparency or opacity, reflection of light, or lack of it)- they even look good without flowers! conversely flowers manage to look good in all sorts of simple containers like nice glasses, teapots, glass bottles etc so to reach for your wallet is not mandatory at all.

some (mostly men?) may not get the mathematics of it, but if you like to play, you can't get enough vases. but here are the basics:

  • 1 tall tubular container preferably of glass (for the weight) so it can take large asymmetrical branches

  • 1 rather tall vase with a small opening (for a single stem flower)

  • 1 big vase with large opening for bouquets

  • 2 small vases with different openings

  • 1 tiny little vase for wild flowers that you can pick at the side of the road

...somehow my text has disappeared, so i post this seperately. photo 1 is a random shot taken at my local bus station; for photo 2 i juxtaposed two individual tear-sheets of magazines and photo 3 is by garance d. of an italian a/w collection (sorry, can't remember which one). aren't these moss greens, greys, deep purple and spicy yellow just wonderful in the mix?
