geometry 2

photo via mixology

friday evening folks :-)

those trays... i've shown them on this blog several times and they've since become a constant and a favorite of the shop. as you know they come in various sizes/shapes/formes.

obviously my new mantra has to be: buy/buy/buy sell/sell/sell.

i freely admit that this - being me - is not easy. and i already miserably failed. i ordered more of the trays...

but sooner or later the choice will be limited so if you like to have the full picking: don't wait too long.

on these wise words i wish you a wonderful weekend!

new window display

every time i make a new window display i try to photograph it from the outside, but invariably i'm disappointed with the result: too much reflection etc. and it's not much better from the inside (too much distracting stuff around, too much backlight). so i usually get desperate and just make random shots in the hope that the one or other will be useable.

all pictures showing the whole window i had to trash, but i rather liked these partial takes...

these ceramic vases have been in my shop top 10 for the past few years. not bad/sad to have a collection like this :-)

i'll be coming up with pictures shortly to show these ceramic vases "in action".

some exceptions/mistakes aside (when i unpack and ask myself: what was i thinking when i ordered this?) i buy only products for the shop that i actually like. but of course there are personal favorites... these two little chaps definitely are in my top ten since several years and i have two of them at home.

if you ask me, this is a 100% lovely christmas gift.

btw i have already posted twice about this scandinavian classic, in the archive you will find the posts dated 14.12.08 and 7.4.10.

the carmen cards

carmen brought me new cards, i mean with patterns we haven't had before. she buys the sheets with handprinted paper directly in japan and then she and her sister busy themselves with cutting, glueing... precision work.

i could look at these prints for a long long time, there are so many beautiful details, shapes and colour juxtapositions... and the velvety texture. japanese refinement at its best.

there are plenty of new patterns but i'll wait to show you some more because they're quite christmassy with delicate gold and silver in it. anti-dote to kitsch, i promise! keep posted.

but if you want to enjoy the full choice, come soon and ask me for the extra box.

marie pour le boudoir

on monday i enjoyed a cup of coffe in town with marie and look what she showed me: her lovely new pouches! made of liberty fabric (of course!) and in a print we've already seen, but in a new colourway, brilliantly offsett with a mustard zipper and purple polka dot lining.
incidentally, marie was wearing similar colours :-)

as you can see, she's expecting... and so are we! keep posted to see when the new pouches will be available in the shop.

one prettier than the next

yes, more of the lovely carmen cards!
as you may remember i have already declared my love for those several times and when i saw the new ones she brought me last week (fear not, old designs are still available) i could only say: bring it on!
once used these cards are just too beautiful to throw away. imagine a collage of several pieces or simply put on a shelf like this:

the {classic} vase

small, mat and oh so lovely with just any flower: these little ceramic vases shown in the middle of the picture have been on my top ten list of favorites for many years and i think always will. they are a nifty choice as a christmas present as they come in an elegant black box for safe keeping.

more colours are available as well as white.

menagerie

it's nice to have some housemates...

but not always possible. if your (inner) child claims a pet why not create a still life with a reclaimed picture frame? looks good on a window sill or the fridge as well. actually anywhere with a smooth surface. very easy to unstick too.

favorites

i have to smile in disbelief when i look at old pictures of the shop: it looks half empty! maybe i will be posting some pics for the shop's 8th birthday next week. now there are literally hundreds of products available - most of which i would gladly take home. only rarely does it happen (but then it's an unpleasant feeling) that i unpack something and think: why on earth did i order this??
of course i have also my favorites and i'll be posting about them in a loose series from now on. starting with above set of tumblers which comes in two sizes and two colour ways:
cold (shown in picture)or hot(red-orange-yellow-pink). my favorite is the cold set in small.
