summer holiday!

the good thing with going to the doctor's is that you get to leaf through magazines in the waiting room... thinking of that i should always come a bit early to appointments! the vogue shot of this vibrant indigo blue textile in the wind is so beautiful i had to snatch a picture of it with my iphone (i'm inseparable of my iphone because of its camera).

please note that the shop will be closed from saturday may 28th until june 11th.

once again we're heading to italy where the chirping of crickets, church bells and barking dogs will provide the rural soundtrack of our holiday. meanwhile i'm looking for some music to listen to during the journey: if you have any suggestion for your favorite song of the moment then please let me know! entrez@leboudoir.ch
here the link to hear the song i last downloaded: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV3Soul18iE no video but i do like the song.

i know such an announcement is quite unfair, but i promise i will not look so foxy anymore, once i'll be back and it will be your turn to go!

party pieces

wow... this is a stunning cuff bracelet, isn't it? the greens and turquoise of the stones are very luminous on a sunkissed skin. since the one i have in the shop is for a tiny wrist we're having one made for a customer. if you want to join the party let me know before the end of this week! the handhammered cuff is 14 carat goldfilled and comes with the same stones as shown. e-mail me for more info at entrez@leboudoir.ch

delicate but built to last

i think it's quite unfair that only babies should be entitled to mobiles. no, mobiles have no other function than to please and yes, to dust them occasionally is encouraged (but it's not mandatory!). i love to see them gently move with a soft summer breeze and see the colours change in the sunlight. i don't mind sparrow chirps as a soundtrack! i have just ordered a new batch of these handcrafted mobiles, small ones like the one in the picture as well as larger ones.

now for the light...

there were some problems with blogger end of last week, but now the post which had disappeared has magically shown up again (10.05.: do it like a dude). so while i still haven't gotten around to hang the pendant lamps for real i'll now post a picture of them. here they are! not bad, that luxurious rain of bulbs... in white, grey, yellow, red and purple.

paper love

i'll call these the carmen cards... she has very neatly made each one with handprinted japanese paper. yes, you're right, you've seen this paper before! the lovely notebooks made of the same paper (click on the label "stationery" to see them).

there are 4 different layouts, each one with an envelope. you should see them without the cellophane! they cost between 5.90 and 6.70 and are worth every penny.

lovely, lovely stuff indeed!

near & dear

this is eva, wearing a short necklace with 4 beads of shell of the pacific, which looks a lot like coral. did you notice the little bronze leafs at one side... the asymmetry that makes all the difference! (you can click on the picture for enlargement) long necklaces are here to stay, but i like that shorter necklaces have staged a comeback and this one is proof that they can look just as relaxed as longer necklaces.

little stars

you may also want to check out this new spring/summer collection of shawls made of 50% wool and 50%silk, which accounts for a slightly finer weave and texture. 3 colours available, all with little star print.

shelve it

there is some problem with blogger these days and my last post is gone... for now. anyway. here are the pictures of the oak shelves. they are slim and come in two sizes: 50cm and 100cm. the narrow gouge that runs through the lenght of it means you can easily secure pictures, postcards, drawings etc. i'm definitely getting a big one for home. it will be great in the corridor.

do it like a dude

usually when i have news for the shop it's out the minute it arrives. so when it's not, there probably is some electric wiring or drilling involved and then it can be months before they go on display!

like the pendant lights that i got last autumn (they're still waiting to come out of the closet) and now, more recently, nifty slim oak shelves to display pictures, photos etc. only you need to drill three holes into the wall to hang them...

but i shall at least post pictures of them very soon, i promise!

back to dark grey

so it's right back to square one with the dark grey paper for the jewellery vitrine... but it was worth the pain i think.

what is different this time round (though it doesn't really show on this picture) is that i have made a more fearless mix, instead of making corners by brands as i usually do.

growing old...

dear reader... if you're young, let's say under 36 (sorry, i have to draw the line somewhere!), you should stop reading now. don't stop coming to the shop - just stop reading HERE.

ok. so yesterday 11.30am i went up to the 4 stairs to the attic and was rather surprised to literally stumble upon young guys, scarcely dressed and sleeping on mattresses on the floor. may i say the were equally surprised to see me and a little embarrassed. i mumbled something and took what i needed from my compartement and was gone.
a few sweeps with the broom to get rid of fags and litter in front of the shop and i was ready to open the store and forgot about it.

in the afternoon i had a surprise visit by an acquaintance and catching up i learnt he was still going to parties. well as a single... but still! rather impressed i was but then again wisened up when he told me those parties were taking place on saturdays starting from 5pm so they all could be in bed by 11pm.

later i went to town with my best friend and while eating we chewed through problems (though no new wisdom was gained from it) and as she was shattered after a hardworking week we split as early as 9.30pm. back i went to the shop to get my motorbike and what did i see: young people crowding, smoking and drinking in front of the shop, warming up for another attic party! no need to tell you they hated me when i nicely (and ineffectively i must add) told them i didn't care for fags and litter allover the place. again i went up all the stairs to the attic to close my compartment (mighten'd some couple sneak in for some privacy) and so i saw the attic by night (ready for the party but yet empty): one hell of a fantastic party room! fond memories came to me. why are we not having parties anymore??? seems like once you're on the wrong side of 40 you stop having parties. what a shame!

driving home in the balmy night i mused on what excitement the week-ends held for me now: tv (worst case), an invitation to friends, a good restaurant, maybe a cinema? all very nice but... it's a shame i say.

no, i know, with these mundane thoughts you will not look at me like i'd just split the atom, sorry!

play it again

as i'm on my own this week-end and as i've got a lot of new jewellery in lately i thought it was a good moment to re-shuffle my jewellery vitrine.

to take all the jewellery out of the vitrine is done in a minute, but i wanted to line the glassshelves with new paper (a slightly lighter shade of grey than the one i've had for ages now)and it took me 35 minutes on my knees, back bent (cutting, adjusting, glueing, swearing...). then, i don't know how long to put out the new jewellery, still in this very unconfortable position, standing up all the time (rubbing my aching back) to see what it looked like from the front, putting straight all the price tags...

and suddenly it dawned on me that the old paper really looked much better, or didn't it?

shall i rip it all out again and put back the old paper? to ponder on this might take me all week-end!

delivery day

it's always amusing when a big lorry stops in front of my little shop... today it's trolleys, unfortunately you won't get to see them as they have been ordered by clients and will go straight away. but i also went to the post office to get 2 parcels with new jewellery: one parcel from france and one from the uk. Can't wait to unpack!
