polka dots

babette sent me this picture her daughter oona has made of their freshly decorated bathroom.

i'm intending to take off the washi snowflakes on the shop front window next week and i think i might throw the polka dots on: after the grey weather we want some colour!

peep!

i have more jewellery news but will sandwich this one in between: a cute set of stickers for the children's room. you decide how to place it. sticks on all smooth surfaces including doors and windows and comes off easily. available in violet or black colour for chf 59.-

lace

the japanese washi window decorations have now arrived. there's a wide choice of snowflakes but for obvious reasons i'm putting these on the side for next winter (sounds far off :-)). but there are also lace borders and i've stuck one on the front window straight away. just spray it with water, let it dry and that's it. no risks as you can peel them off easily and reuse them.

this reminding you of granny's parlour? somehow but in a very charming way...

snowflakes in the pipeline

on my black wintercoat with fluffy surface snowflakes can sit without melting so you can admire them in all their geometric beauty. how nature can make these perfect stars in such a variety is just a mystery to me.

it seems somewhat more plausible how japanese can recreate beautiful snowflakes of washipaper, although how they can stick to glass with just a spray of water is still quite a mystery. the snowflakes can be peeled off the windows and are entirely reusable. so you can store them away in spring and take them out again the next winter.

unfortunately i discoverd the washi-snowflakes a bit late for this season and they will only be available here in march. by then you will not want to see snowflakes anymore, so keep posted to see the more spring compatible variety that i have ordered too which is granny-lace. don't see what i mean?

menagerie

it's nice to have some housemates...

but not always possible. if your (inner) child claims a pet why not create a still life with a reclaimed picture frame? looks good on a window sill or the fridge as well. actually anywhere with a smooth surface. very easy to unstick too.

law & order

there were enough rainy spells over the week-end for me to finally finish and send off my tax declaration (only 10 days late this year, i'm starting to see a positive trend here!) and to begin to clear up and organize the chaos in the shop kitchen. it was always bad (forget cooking) but things only got worse when i had to clear room 4. so no easy task because somewhere the stuff will have to go! and that's where i'll continue today and hope to free some space (1 cubic metre would be brilliant!) because new supplies are in the pipeline and slowly start to trickle in... like this new bird, landed in the shop today. more about it soon (but wait, first i'll have to catch up with carpets and stacked and... i haven't forgotten!)

procrastination

how lovely to wake up to a clear blue sky!(haven't seen much of that lately, i might be tempted to add...)

room4 was a happy project, now i have to move on to one i'm slightly less enthousiastic about: the annual tax declaration.

so before getting started it's only fair to watch this video by Johnny Kelly that my father sent me a while ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXziurFkQxM

but you know what? i think we all agree that the weather is much too nice for tax declarations today!

special day!

not that i'm ready, but this evening room 4 is opening, no matter what! the goods have been sitting in place for over 2 weeks now, but i couldn't get decided on the walls... strange problem you will say and you're completely right!

one lateral wall of the room is almost entirely taken up by a large ikea cupboard with 25 compartments
which i inherited from the former tenant of the back appartment. so i was left with two walls and i couldn't make up my mind if to put some wallpaper on display or use one of the large stickers i have. after much to and fro i decided to go for the stickers to keep the room more light. so far so good. it didn't occur to me then that the actual sticking process would take up so much time...
so here we go: room 4 is now officially opened!

on another note: exactly 6 years ago i started this blog and as a little special i'm starting a series "21 q&a" which will become a weekly feature starting from next week. i hope it should last well into autumn and that you will enjoy reading it.

lost the plot...

i'm full of bright ideas, the problem is that they usually don't get to see the light.

this week-end i seriously meant to change my shop window display (for once i actually know what i plan to do) but then the weather interfered: too good to set foot in the shop!

so the first entry of the week is going to be about stickers, not window displays. the sticker shown here is in my toilet, sadly it's a one off and i don't have it for sale. the toilet lid is still my favorite place to put a sticker! click on the tag "stickers" below and you will find an entry of 2008 for evidence.

add some plush

design classics are uncomplicated family members you will never tire of. nonetheless it's fun to revamp them temporarily: so uninvasive you don't have to read the notice nor ask your pharmacist.
add some plush with a few stickers on unexpected places like fridges, mirrors, bed heads, the list goes on and on...

my funny valentine

who wants 12 baccarat roses perfunctorily bought last minute ? (by the assistant...) i certainly don't. it's so unromantic to be romantic at an appointed date of the year! so don't flex your plastic just yet and wait to desire.
soon you'll find this "je t'aime" tape in the shop, thank god not in time for valentine's day...

wallpaper has been the big thing for the past few years; but, unfortunately, it's such trouble and quite a commitment: what do you do when you change flats? now there's a cheeky way to have fun with walls without the hassle: stickers!! chose from a variety of motives and sizes made by several french artists...
keep posted for more pictures.

it's what all fashionable walls should be wearing!
