new & beautiful

two days ago the new coffe tables arrived, they're beautiful! 

i took the half size one because i find the shape more interesting. what's more, for small spaces you can place the straight lined face against the sofaside or a wall (for example as a bedside table).   

that's one to grab for chf 209.- also available in off-white.

manuela's sideboard

this entire week i have been a woman on a mission: deliver tax declaration... uffff, i'm nearly done.

so i'm thankful manuela sent me this picture i can post today :-)

last week manuela came to collect her ordered combination of the stacked system and here you can see the result! 

i really like the mix of ash wood and white elements and the way she stacked it. i'm taking notes! detail: if you look more closely you can see that the backboard of the lower element on the left is pink.

i'm a big fan of the muuto stacked shelf system and its endless possibilities. often copied but never matched.

simply pile the elements on top of each other or, for a more elegant look, stack them on top of a podium as in the last picture below. you could also hang them on a wall. chose between 3 sizes, with or without backboard, white or ash.

is january your favorite month of the year? 

not really, thought so... january is a drag in the shop: it's the crash after december but still loads of paper work to work off. it's like cold coffee. 

i suspect this is the case for many in my line of business, so most conveniently the trade shows enter center stage in january. so i'm not sad to say that next week i'm off to paris on wednesday evening! 

i'm mentally making notes of my favorite bakeries, restaurants, coffee shops, bars... but i'm also planning on my orders!

piggy pink

last week i mentioned the two piggy pink chairs i bought... 

who thought piggy pink chairs could look so good? 

one is at home (pic1) the other i'm lending to the shop for you to see and test. they're formidably comfortable. 

the chair is made of oak wood and comes in various colours: yellow, grey, dark green, red or pink. or unpainted oak (pic2).

ps: as one thing leads to the next, seeing pic 2 i suddenly thought those white lamps really look pretty good too, hmmmm...

get organised

what do you think of these?
alright, not everybody's cup of tea of course.

as you might know i'm a big fan of modular shelf systems (i can always dream of getting organized). a young couple of munich is making these of cardboard and you can chose the colour of the strap that holds them together. i was tempted but had to resist: the shop is full to the brim already! see more here: http://www.uocu.de/

tomorrow i'm to collect another parcel at the post office, it's from france but i don't know what it is... it could be jewellery or printed t-shirts for the little ones (probably the latter). so my aim today is to sell a parcel's worth of goods to keep the holy cubic meter-balance.

find out next week if it was a small parcel (jewellery) or the big carton. till then enjoy the week-end!

roll it

against my better judgement...

what i feared is happening: room 4 is filling up again. it was inevitable. as i was ordering the new muuto stacked in ash (more about this shortly) i couldn't stop myself from ordering the new low table as well. even when pacing all the rooms armed with my tape measure i knew all along there was no room for this low table and sadly, with a diameter of 70cm, it couldn't sit in the shop window either. maybe in the entry hall? not if i am to open one of the four doors at any rate... but i ordered anyway and it now sits half tucked away under the table in room 4 looking smart!

yes...

there are more clever options with the shelf system. as seen here on the picture by muuto you can use single pieces as a little sofa or bedside table (the one shown here is the smallest of the 3 available sizes), or you can build a light room separator to insulate office space etc. and still have the same amount of light.
on this picture you see the wood veneer version of the cubes. all white, all wood veneer or mix&match? it's up to you...

for the past few days...

i have been highly irritated with my new home computer, my first mac, but here finally some pics of the new window display. with this simple yet genious shelf system there are so many options that i didn't know what to do! the good thing is that you can get a fantastic result even with limited space. i want one for home!

i don't like to drop the word christmas anything before december, HOWEVER if you plan for one of those delicious sideboards as a christmas present you need to get cracking NOW! all orders before end of next week are guaranteed to be in before christmas.

as a novelty the sideboards can now be ordered in two colours of your choice - the interior finished in one colour, the exterior and edges in another. makes the choice even more difficult!

... is the name of this little table, no joke. the portable table comes in two sizes, stocked in turquoise, white and bright yellow. the table in one hand, the bottle of champagne in the other, off you go!

back in town

ok, so it's back to work... it was a bit hard to leave rolling fields, olive trees and tiramisu behind but finally summer days are here in Zurich too. the fact that i have secured two of those low armchairs for my own home mean that it's a pleasure to come home, kick off my shoes and relax in the evening sun. having roadtested the armchairs, let me say they're really expensive, but an investment worth opening your wallet for. a few are yet available in the shop. for more information you can have a look at http://www.fermob.com/

battle the elements in style

our problem with the water right now (= past fortnight) is that it comes from above, not below...

so if your're lucky enough to have a balcony or terrace, be sure to be ready the minute the sun does eventually come out. if yours looks like it had dropped from a shabby chapter of "les misérables" it's now the time to give it a lift. kick out what's frumpy or uncomfortable and give old garden furniture a new lease of life with fresh paint. speaking of colour: want to see what came out of the boxes in the post below? chairs like the ones above, i hope to post some own pictures of the garden furniture in smacking crayon colours soon...

ha! you will hate me, but this week-end i'm off to toscany to a friends wedding... and to make everything worse, we have decided to stay 6 days!
