get organised

today it's raining... surely that's an improvement with respect to snowing?

this easter i'm on a mission to uncover as many chocolate bunnies as possible and, alternatively: finish this year's tax declaration (>90%). so you imagine how ardent i will be at the task.

it is funny to notice what lame excuses the mind falls back on just to escape for a few minutes. for example: while i'm working at a bloody chaotic desk all year round, i suddenly need to get all the stuff out of the way to work on taxes. it's the desk, the computer, the calculator and me, basta. files and miscellanous paper all strewn over the floor (what a sight it must be from above).

every year i tell myself: next year you're going to be incredibly organised!(and i believe it). so case in point with these two(excuse the expression) super stylish helpers: the acrylic stuff box and the "accordion" archive folder. i want!

and now let me get busy with my taxes... wish you happy easter!

please note that the shop will be closed tomorrow friday and saturday march 30.

one prettier than the next

yes, more of the lovely carmen cards!
as you may remember i have already declared my love for those several times and when i saw the new ones she brought me last week (fear not, old designs are still available) i could only say: bring it on!
once used these cards are just too beautiful to throw away. imagine a collage of several pieces or simply put on a shelf like this:

paper love

i'll call these the carmen cards... she has very neatly made each one with handprinted japanese paper. yes, you're right, you've seen this paper before! the lovely notebooks made of the same paper (click on the label "stationery" to see them).

there are 4 different layouts, each one with an envelope. you should see them without the cellophane! they cost between 5.90 and 6.70 and are worth every penny.

lovely, lovely stuff indeed!

yes, more

unfortunately the notebooks as shown on entry of dec 6 have gone but there are plenty other pretty prints to be had. an especially festive one is the one shown here on top of the others, chrysanthemums that look like a firework! the empty pages are perfect for new year resolutions...

basics

if you're looking for the town's prettiest wrapping paper don't look any further. these you can use year round and for many different purposes.

if you don't have any time on your hands and don't enjoy fiddling with glue: just slip a sheet of patterned paper in you underwear drawer. 1 minute for everyday pleasure.

blog apologies...

i'm sorry to have let you down with my blog for a long while now! so i have decided to (hopefully) make up with a series of things i think make for a lovely present. here's the first: beautiful small notebook with thick, empty pages, in a handprinted japanese paper. isn't it a work of art?

flags & shadows

i'm back from paris and wanted to post some more pics but haven't gotten around to transfer them. so in between this one here... mariana has come across another idea of what to do with masking tape on internet and here's the result: a luminous and perfectly executed miniguarland that makes a cheerful addition to any birthday card. a little of diy never hurt anyone!
btw, did anyone notice the perfectly mirrored colour concordance of the last two pictures below? (street in paris versus paperbird). probably not, so that's why i point it out here...

bliss in a box

sorry girls, i have you hooked with more paper work. not only can you buy those pretty little boxes in the shop for under a tenner, i think this picture might inspire you as much as me to cover plenty more things with beautiful paper (see post below). combine with japanese washi tape and you're on a natural high!

dangerous chemical substances

either you have it in your DNA or you don't: the love for pretty paper. if yes, this picture alone can release a powerful chemical transmitter that will make your mouth water... you see i can be nearly as clever as nobelprice-winner pavlov but fear not, this for once is a very harmless and affordable addiction:)

masking tape bliss

this penholder used to be pure and functional but now, with Nathalie's masking tape magic, it's alabaster-skinned and interesting! that just goes to show what a difference a little of tape can make. it's good to play! (and easy to take off if you tire of it.)

these pictures were sent to me by Mariana the same afternoon she had bought the tape... precision work!

half the rent for your christmas presents...

yes, there is a lot going on in this picture, e.g. how many birds can you count?
but the reason i picked this picture is that it shows the prettiest wrapping paper in town, plus another example of how to use japanese rice paper as a substitute for ribbon. this tape can be placed and re-placed until it's spot on!

love, love, love!

this has long been in the pipeline, but now i'm very excited to present japanese rice tape, freshly shipped from osaka! why am i so excited? because this is a novel product to switzerland and because there are infinite ways to use and play with it. with this genius stuff the world is but a canvas to your imagination...

where have you been?

this year summer holiday will be a bit earlier than usual for me, but still: where did all those months go since last year?
it's decided, now always in my pocket one of those lovely scrapbooks for memories, genious ideas and notes. if only i could draw.

please note that the shop will be closed from may 23 to june 8.

out and about

this is the time of the year when squirrels gather nuts frenetically so they may be prepared for winter and have a proper feast in december. inspired by this i'm off to paris for a few days and a few little but shiny fairs. hope to come back with a lot of nuts for the shop!!
please note that the shop will be closed october 3rd and 4th, open again tuesday afternoon 14pm.
lovely cards as the one above are a stapple in the shop. most practical for bed-time stories!

add some plush

design classics are uncomplicated family members you will never tire of. nonetheless it's fun to revamp them temporarily: so uninvasive you don't have to read the notice nor ask your pharmacist.
add some plush with a few stickers on unexpected places like fridges, mirrors, bed heads, the list goes on and on...

my funny valentine

who wants 12 baccarat roses perfunctorily bought last minute ? (by the assistant...) i certainly don't. it's so unromantic to be romantic at an appointed date of the year! so don't flex your plastic just yet and wait to desire.
soon you'll find this "je t'aime" tape in the shop, thank god not in time for valentine's day...

wrap it up

maybe it's not official, but this is the world's prettiest wrapping paper. i shouldn't be saying this but the packaging is nearly half the rent when it comes to presents. what's there to add? 5m on a roll.
