growing old...

dear reader... if you're young, let's say under 36 (sorry, i have to draw the line somewhere!), you should stop reading now. don't stop coming to the shop - just stop reading HERE.

ok. so yesterday 11.30am i went up to the 4 stairs to the attic and was rather surprised to literally stumble upon young guys, scarcely dressed and sleeping on mattresses on the floor. may i say the were equally surprised to see me and a little embarrassed. i mumbled something and took what i needed from my compartement and was gone.
a few sweeps with the broom to get rid of fags and litter in front of the shop and i was ready to open the store and forgot about it.

in the afternoon i had a surprise visit by an acquaintance and catching up i learnt he was still going to parties. well as a single... but still! rather impressed i was but then again wisened up when he told me those parties were taking place on saturdays starting from 5pm so they all could be in bed by 11pm.

later i went to town with my best friend and while eating we chewed through problems (though no new wisdom was gained from it) and as she was shattered after a hardworking week we split as early as 9.30pm. back i went to the shop to get my motorbike and what did i see: young people crowding, smoking and drinking in front of the shop, warming up for another attic party! no need to tell you they hated me when i nicely (and ineffectively i must add) told them i didn't care for fags and litter allover the place. again i went up all the stairs to the attic to close my compartment (mighten'd some couple sneak in for some privacy) and so i saw the attic by night (ready for the party but yet empty): one hell of a fantastic party room! fond memories came to me. why are we not having parties anymore??? seems like once you're on the wrong side of 40 you stop having parties. what a shame!

driving home in the balmy night i mused on what excitement the week-ends held for me now: tv (worst case), an invitation to friends, a good restaurant, maybe a cinema? all very nice but... it's a shame i say.

no, i know, with these mundane thoughts you will not look at me like i'd just split the atom, sorry!
