mobiles are quite useless but lovely :-)

ungrateful windows

last week i sold a mobile so i hanged a new one. it's amazing how the colours change depending on the light.

now that days are getting noticeably longer i finally get some direct light coming into the two back rooms again for a while in the afternoon. so nice!

only that the slant of the sunlight practically highlights the dirt on the windows... and i dislike cleaning windows because every time i think i did a good job (arms hurting) and take a few steps back to admire the result i find out that i did a poor job in fact.

unforgiving, that's what they are.

ready, steady, go!

slowly airspace is getting a bit scarce in the shop and i don't know yet where to hang this mobile! next time you're in the shop you will have to watch out for it and admire the real colours as the shades are too blueish on these pictures. btw: this mobile has a little sister, same family but different in character, you'll see what i mean...

a new space invader

talking about mobiles... you know i can't resist them and in paris i gave in to temptation again and ordered two very graphic mobiles in a striking colour palette, with, yes you guessed it! some touch of neon. (i have become so predictable, haven't i... must do something unpredictable soon again!)

this will be my first shipment from LA ever. hello california! fortunately the paper mobiles come flat packed, but YOU will have to fold them. or the person you will give it too, hi,hi. i'm told it's very easy though.

la joie de vivre

this little boy looks so concentrated and happy on the changing table i'm sure there must be a huge smile on the photographer's face too! Sinan was born just 4 days after his mother bought this mobile for him...

delicate but built to last

i think it's quite unfair that only babies should be entitled to mobiles. no, mobiles have no other function than to please and yes, to dust them occasionally is encouraged (but it's not mandatory!). i love to see them gently move with a soft summer breeze and see the colours change in the sunlight. i don't mind sparrow chirps as a soundtrack! i have just ordered a new batch of these handcrafted mobiles, small ones like the one in the picture as well as larger ones.

new foliage

i was a bit sad to let the green mobile in the 3rd room go as i thought it was so beautiful against the backdrop of the tree foliage. anyway, now the "fire-fire" mobile is out, looking funky japanese. these mobiles are one of my current favorites of the shop, must get one for home.

welcome to new space invaders

it's about time i continued my series of space invaders... these aren't from another galaxy but about as far as it gets from this planet: australia! each piece is handcrafted by nina and unique in its delicate balancing of organic forms and subtle shades.

i love!

les feuilles mortes

now that the wind has blown away all the beautifully coloured leaves it's time to get cosy at home. this mobile in vibrant hues is a fast track to liven up cinderella spaces and to give your spirit the much needed lift.

ménage à trois

you may well think that easter eggs, the Tate Modern and a danish manufacturer make unlikely bedfellows...

think again and marvel at the Tate's take on easter!

this delicate paper mobile is chic enough to enter your own private airspace for a very long time.
