a hazardous colour combo

i just happened upon this picture taken last spring (remembering the interminable roadwork) and i kind of like it... though the colour combinations are less than orthodox with the mix of neon orange, neon yellow, piggy pink, plum and mustard yellow.

folks, i'm ordering of the birchwood lamps as shown on the left and i'm also ordering muuto chairs as shown on the right. also on the list: the floor lamp shown in post entry 15.11. so in case you want to join in let me know!

the thermometer has hit 0 for the first time this autumn and indeed, i'm seeing the first wet snowflakes of the season! this makes me think of two things: it's time to take out my big chunky scarf and the washi snowflakes. and bake cookies :-)

as for the last two winter seasons i have ordered loose shawls and loops. new to this a/w 13 collection is the triangular shawl (shown on mannequin), i like!

2003-2013

dear friends... today it's precisely 10 years since i opened the shop door for the first time!!!

you may wonder why i'm posting a picture of the parquet floor... it's a little nod to the weeks that preceded the shop opening, you will see that this floorboards were quite fought for.    

unfortunately i don't have any pictures from what the shop looked like with my predecessors (it was a far cry from a promissing place!). but i found some pics of the renovation works. it was a rather daunting task, but i vividly remember the joy of it.

new nordic

last week i received delivery from danemark with new muuto products, partly on order, partly not. 

the above candlestick is now available in black (as shown), the floor lamp will be picked-up by a customer on saturday, so far only available on order.

i have two more new lamps (both of which are available in the shop) to show you next week.

ps: today i have unpacked lovely stuff from the uk... 

all the pretty colours!

and that's only fraction of the stuff... it was quite worth the hours of unpacking!

but as my practically minded dad said: just sell it so you don't have to store it.

this time the question was: how can i display all the pieces? well, since i can't, where the heck am i going to store away all of that?

more owls

i'm a big fan of the new owl and am definitely taking one for my own home. a lovely and foolproof match with glassware or ceramics.
 
the one down left is of walnut wood and has a gold top, whereas the owl top right is oak with a blue top.

ideas for advent calendar (girls, the little ones!)

 

my aim is to be a shop for grown-ups and so i try to only buy few things for kids but here and there i find something i cannot resist (i hold with oscar wild who said he could resist anything but temptation).

it's a piece of paper!

you need scissors, glue, tape (or needle) and thread and you're ready to play :-) 

so kawai! that's a neat little present for chf 8.50 (3 different colours available). 

i assembled a fairy for the display in the shop and feel like a 6 year old. génial, non?

paper

i usually avoid mentioning the x-word before december but for some of you november means it's advent calendar confection time!

of course i will come up with ideas for you because 24 little presents, that's an awful lot...

but first of all, let's speak of paper. because if you take the trouble time to do an advent calendar you may as well go the extra mile to make it look wonderful!

unfortunately i cannot resist a beautiful wrapping paper and so i "did it again" ... i bought new paper although i already have lots!

1) the pretty paper with small prints in many colours (good to have on stock all year round for any occasion)

2) the graphic paper in black & white (manfriendly!)

3) the tie-dye coloured paper (modern)

4) the handmade gold on black paper (very festive)

as my friend adi says: it's gorgeous!

in need of a colour fix?

typically the colour palette for autumn/winter accessories is much more toned down than for spring/summer collections.

but the two colourful bracelets shown here are definitely reminiscent of the past summer collection. so if you want a colour injection to lift your winter wardrobe (and spirits!) these two might well do the trick.
