sunday...

i had a stroll in the woods all on my own, it truly seemed an enchanted forest.

i took a few twigs that i found on the ground home to make this wreath. no thread/wire/glue needed just twisted the twigs in a more or less round shape.

fall

there is no doubt about it, fall is here. in the woods, in my wardrobe (i spent a couple of hours this sunday to switch from spring/summer to autumn/winter clothes)and took off my red toenail polish...

{not} right on time

as on most sundays i had a lovely walk in the woods of my hometown. call it nostalgia - what i especially like about this spot is that it looks just like it did in the seventies (good old times) that farmhouse with the messy barn, no new houses and no busy road in sight. bless!
now i'm the first to rant when i see a vast squadron of easter chocolate bunnies in the supermarket as early as mid february. isn't now the time for carnival fritters? but then what did i do? no, not buy an easter bunny, but...
it has to hit you as comical when you enter zara now and see ladies dressed like eskimos with dripping noses flock around rail upon rail of bright pastel clothes, dainty dresses, silk tops and shorts with flower prints (well hot pants, considering the shortness of them). and what did i do? i bought the lightest of tops (and short-sleeved at that).
so i bought what i will be wearing on a hot day in 6 months when i will be picking the heavy jumper that i should be wearing now. so there you are.

away...

saturday i took one day off work to go south of the alps to ticino. with the sun out like this january isn't that bad at all!

unfortunately the weather is not to be as good when i set out for paris from wednesday. but i hope to report back from paris with good news, keep posted...

{yesterday} in the forest

bf was south of the alps in Ticino so i had a very long stroll in the forest on my own. this year is the first time i remeber there still being quite some coloured leaves left on the trees on the first of advent sundays.

late autumn or winter may not hold the promise of spring and summer, but with light beams filtering between trees you get a scenery i find magical.

to see the short, silent, tumbling fall of a leaf.

sunday bits and this morning

autumn days...
(btw if you click on pic two you see the top of prime tower and a crane sticking out their heads of the fog).
well, you couldn't tell from these pictures but i have also spent a few hours in the shop over the week-end (not so much of a break then as planned) to redecorate the window display. this usually entails window cleaning and it still surprises me how dirty windows get from the inside! no greasy noses, ok, but little sticky white dots of mysterious origin.
i have put a small combination of the Muuto stacked shelf system in the window. it's the new version in ash with or without backboard. i tried to take a picture but the reflection is such that i would show you a photograph of the eth on the opposite side of the street instead... but hang on, tomorrow i will post pictures of it that appeared in the october issue of wallpaper magazine.

sunday bits

before anything else... let me put the disclaimer at once: this is NOT my suitcase! this is my friends suitcase including tiger and she doesn't give a hoot about what other people think. now that is cool.
i can't say my friend and i picked the best week-end to go to appenzell weather-wise, but dramatic skies are fascinating. plus we were practically allone...

about canned sardines and apples

i hope you had a splendid sunday, the weather certainly was. eager to pay the sun god our respect boyfriend and i went to the river (werdinsel)and duly aligned with another 6842 sardines. never have i seen this place so packed. mind you it was very instructive! while intently peering into your book you get to hear a lot of interesting things.

in the past the beginning of the bikini season could convince me to eat more apples and less cake for about 5 hours. nowadays i'd rather count on these apple earrings to look dishy!

sunday bits

tucked away in my favorite agglo coffee shop (eating once again too many warm croissants) i read in the newspaper that the basel art fair was a huge success with an all time high attendance. no wonder as so many seem to go for a networking party. i could do with some meeting fresh people too actually.

to quote louis jouvet: "il faut mettre de la vie dans son art et de l'art dans sa vie" (or was it the other way round?). i'm glad to say i did the latter last week as we were invited to pick up our freshly framed japanese artwork we had bought in a tiny gallery in paris. the frames i had found on an antic market a few years ago. i'm really happy with the result! even the backside of the frames are cute. all in all each set us back around chf 560.- but i think its totally worth it. i don't think i could have bought anything half as beautiful for double the money in basel.

nothing to rival with nature's beauty. on this sunday morning walk one minute the sun was out, the next it was raining. and windy it was too. very nice. these old sbb palletts rotting away wouldn't have looked wrong at the art fair i guess. as a child my mother showed me how to string strawberries on a grassstalk. really tasty.

i'm so bummed both with this template and my homecomputer i want to make mincemeat of it! i swear this one is playing games with me. what you see on the screen is not what you get, it's driving me nuts.
