the best time of the year

it's "that time of the year" again!

can't believe that year went by so quickly: here we are again baking in happiness with the prospect of the imminent summer holiday.

because before is almost better than the holiday itself, do you know what i mean?

it was a bit stupid of us to plan practically all our holidays around spring and early summer, but that's what we did...

this watercolour (size of a postcard), was painted and sent to me by my aunt Ulla. and incidentally that's pretty much how it looks like where we're going. dear weather god, let us have blue skies!

so there will be a 2 weeks pause here on the blog while the shop is closed. but... i have programmed the post for tomorrow, the infamous friday pieces!

a skinny pair of trousers in an sherbert colour (rolled up at the ankles) and a buttondown shirt with round collar. oh and a slim belt. no socks.

tired of suppliers

you know what, sisters?

it's been a good month since i had a few rants about work related problems and although i didn't want to annoy you with further laments these feelings haven't left me. hence my conviction that even if for the moment i have not the faintest idea how exactly (and when) but it's time for some changes here. that's a good thing and fear not, i'm not going to throw out the baby with the bath water.

i write this now because without planning this at all i have just written to two suppliers telling them exactly what i think.

and you know what? i feel relief.

found

this week-end i excaveted a box with these elegant napkins in my cellar at home. that was a rather nice surprise! especially as i thought this species was extinct, which frankly was a shame, so if you knew and liked them they are available again in the shop. at least for a while.

i was looking forward to this post all week, because i'm so excited with these new earrings. can't wait for them to arrive. no, they're not everyone's cup of tea, i know that. it occured to me that in the worst case scenario i will get to keep them all for myself! i mean is this so terrible a prospect? hi, hi... 

so this week we're on a symmetric pair, that makes it easier, doesn't it? but they're still quite something! did you notice the gradation of shades in the stones getting darker towards the bottom? (of course the stone drops will hang down from the middle once worn) i read it's green rutilated moss amethyst. sounds interesting.

have a lovely week-end everyone. and watch out for the next pair to continue our training :-)

looking at the past few entries it occured to me that there was some green in all pictures so i figured i might continue the unintended green series.
 
daniela has brought new paperflowers. this particular one charmed the heck out of me. 

mousse it up

snakes and ladders, we all know this old game: one moment it's up and the next you fall down to square one. and that's how the weather is now: one day warm and the next it's cold again... can anyone be blamed for thinking this weather is hormonal?

so hey, shawls are still the go to piece for me to easily adjust when feeling cold or hot. it's on and off the whole day!
 
recently i've taken to moussing up the shawl to create some volume. for that i shake it out, twist it loosely once or twice and tie the ends (again loosely).

the friday pieces

i told you back in march that i have ordered some new jewellery line (mainly earrings) from hawaï which is quite olé-olé and i do hope that you will be in the mood for this! at least i have a few weeks to motivate you until the jewellery arrives...

i don't know if it's down to a very gingery drink that i have made with my new juicer but yesterday evening i added a few more pieces to the order and i must say it were not the most inconspicuous pieces that landed on my list. for one, i took some asymmetric pieces like the pair of earrings shown here.

quite festive, aren't they? love-love-love.

so for the next few weeks, every friday i'll post a pic of a dangly pair so eventually you will find these earrings totally  wearable for cleaning the house! ok, maybe not. but for 10% of you on a nice summer evening? come on!

get juicy

lately i've felt a bit run down at work (read: mutiny on the Bounty) so i figured i might at least help with some vitamins. i've now bought a juicer and have squarely taken the rolls royce of juicers!

let's just say that this first juice is probably the most expensive one in the world but i'm determined to amortize the cost of this until i'll say this was actually a bargain :-)

the device now proudly stands in my shop kitchen, the green miracle potion at reach (i'll have to stop short of broccoli though, that's a no go!). but here comes a probably even more therapeutic recipe as concocted by Inbal, the 2.5 year old daughter of my friend Adi.

Adi: yesterday she came to me holding a light bulb, a plastic cup and a pink magnet and asked "mama can i cook something for you?" i said sure, what do you want to cook for me sweetie?

and she said:"Lichtbrei und Erdbeerwasser und Freitag Wolkeneis für dich zum lecken" 
(light porridge and strawberry water and friday i'll cook cloud-icecream for you to lick).

geometric genious

yesterday i received something  i had been looking forward to since january when i ordered them: steel trays in various shapes, sizes and colours. they can be bought one by one but of course the more you take, the merrier you play.  

we may not take 11 trays and play kaleidoscope (though we wish we could!) but even starting from one is good. for example: opt for the smallest in rhombus shape (vibrant shade versus toned down shade like grey or apricot) and place it near the entrance to put keys, coins etc OR on your bedside table for jewellery you take off during the night. etc etc

with 2 and more pieces: let the play begin!

a pasta-polipo-torta caprese filled me is back in the office. i can only say we were so lucky with the weather! and the food was delicious...  this is bound to have consequences, folks.
