temperatures rise and i feel light and colourful. bring it on!

right on time

the right timing is of essence for most things, but alas, i'm not particularly good at it. so i've effectively waited for weeks to post the picture of the cushion cover with handprinted sparrows until the 3 pieces i had were long sold. congrats.  

but now comes to good bit: i might get some more cushion covers. in the future. (they probably are in the process of being printed in zurich right now).

friday pieces

i'm afraid this is not the best of pictures but you still get the idea (i took other stones in grey/green colour).

"your order is in production and looking lovely" has been the mantra sent by the supplier everytime we were in touch for the past few month. talk about the carrot stick that is being held in front of the donkey's muzzle...
 
production complete, payment made and received, proceedings for the shipping agreed upon (honestly: can you believe swiss customs makes the supplier send the findings (metal hook piercing the ear) separately to my home, while the rest is sent to the shop. i will then have to mount the findings and clasps myself, thank you very much!) but now i'm finally in a position to tell you delivery is on it's way!

at times i can foresee the future. for example i just can tell that the minute the earrings arrive i'll hold every single pair of them to my face, look into the mirror and chose a pair for myself, merci beaucoup!

hello yellow

quickly had to take this picture as this last yellow piece went over the counter today... 

yellow in small touches around the house is totally underrated!
 
now i've put a purple one in it's place, watch out for that one too.

marie pour le boudoir

 

on monday i enjoyed a cup of coffe in town with marie and look what she showed me: her lovely new pouches! made of liberty fabric (of course!) and in a print we've already seen, but in a new colourway, brilliantly offsett with a mustard zipper and purple polka dot lining.

incidentally, marie was wearing similar colours :-)

as you can see, she's expecting... and so are we! keep posted to see when the new pouches will be available in the shop.

one prettier than the next

as you may remember i have already declared my love for those several times and when i saw the new ones she brought me last week (fear not, old designs are still available) i could only say: bring it on!

once used these cards are just too beautiful to throw away. imagine a collage of several pieces or simply put on a shelf like this:

the last two days i've been freezing my socks off, i'm glad it's warmer today. matching the more summery mood comes bargain #2.

friday pieces

how's your work-morale today? well, friday afternoon... and considering that thousands of kids are being set free for a 5 weeks summer holiday we wish that was us. maybe that's why you're looking at the friday pieces just now?

to change a little from the usual, today i'm showing you a pair of earrings that you WILL NOT be able to buy for the good reason that i didn't order it.

i mean, we're fond of a smouldering good look, but this might just set off the smoke detectors. who would buy this pair with the incredibly real looking pierced orchid on dusty universitätstrasse in zurich? exactement, not you, not me! i'd say the distance to the next tropical beach is just one step too far...  

i am confident that next friday i can tell you that the earrings are on their way. meantime, for this week i leave you with the words of my supplier: sending you tropical breeze and sunshine from Hawaii! (even if i'm not there myself).

new shoes

today i found a french mail-order catalogue in my mailbox with the autumn/winter collections... pffffff....i don't even want to look at it.

i actually try to avoid the whole sales period in town but the other day when i went for lunch with bf i was early and... bought 2 pair of shoes which were not only a bargain but they've already gone in heavy rotation since then.

well... i gathered you would be happy to make an exceptional deal au boudoir as well. so although i don't see my products as seasonal at all i'm offering a few deals over the summer.

all the parties

to say i don't ace organisation is an understatement so i'm always happy to come up with something that is PARTICULARLY PRACTICAL for busy parents. a birthday party coming up? decorating a room for a child, finding a little present? 

it goes like this: open the tinbox, take out the 5m garland with many pretty paperconfettis and swiflty hang it accross the room with a tape or drawing pin. done. (and then back into the little box for the next occasion).

why did i say parents? this works for anyone (except perhaps the rigorous aesthete or minimalistic architect):

housewarming party: check.
garden party: check.
easy going wedding: check.
occasional office party: check.

Barbara sent & friday pieces

where did this week go?

as i didn't post the last two days i'm doing a double today. first up ceramics (what else? these last days were a real whirlwind for ceramics, why is anybody's guess) with a triptique of pictures that barbara sent me today. she said she took the photos just before a thunderstorm and well, the blue hues look kind of stormy! (looks very beautiful but in truth they are less blueish).

i'm glad to have sold many beautiful pieces the last two weeks but i miss them in the shop, i really do.

next up are - guess what - the friday pieces!

under influence

lately, on sunny days, i've been going to work with a motor scooter, parking right next to this signpost at the backside of the shop. maybe i shouldn't have.

is it the vicinity of this "Schlaflabor" that made me miss out on one of the year's most interesting jewellery shows (as far as i'm concerned)? usually this show took place in september but now unknown by me it's been rescheduled to beginning of july.... last week-end that was. disaster!

there WERE some mails in my inbox with invitations but my only thought was: hell, they are doing this very early this year. only very few days before the date did it dawn on me that the show would not take place in september anymore. all week-end i was off my rocker not knowing if to take a concorde to paris but in the end for various reasons didn't.

you know how much i love to buy and sell jewellery. yet i wonder if beneath this missed opportunity there's a freudian slip on my behalf. the ones following this blog know that i'm looking for some change with regard to the future of the shop. i'm fed up with working on my own (done that for the last 8.5 years) yet there's not enough to earn a living for two. dilemma. so i have NO IDEA what to do but i really feel and hope some change is on foot. 

meanwhile i'm bummed to have missed out on the new jewellery collections. i will have to make up for it best as i can.
